Zombies

I was trying to get a sweet pictures of the girls in their Easter shirts.  In the beginning they were cooperating.  Somehow it turned into a zombie attack!

Brooklyn's Zoo Trip

Brooklyn's school had a field trip to the zoo sometime in Feb.  Brooklyn was super excited to get to ride the bus.  I was a little disappointed because we left late so we didn't get much time there.  It was also hot.  We were there maybe five minutes before everyone started sweating.  After the zoo we went down the street to a nice park so the kids could have lunch and play.  That is where this picture was taken.  Before we went into the zoo it looked like it was going to start raining so I left the camera in the car.  Sunny skies the whole time.  At the park I decided to get the camera out.  Not five minutes after we got there the clouds got dark and it started sprinkling.  I snapped a quick picture then ran to put the camera up.  The rain didn't stop the kids from playing though!  Brooklyn has grown so much in this past year.  I feel that Head Start has truly been a blessing for her.  I registered her for kindergarten yesterday.  I think without her going to school this past year she might not have been emotionally ready.  I am crossing my fingers that Sophia can get into Head start.  It is a great program and the perfect transition from being home to real school.  It am so proud of my girls with everything they are learning and doing.

Another lab test

Lets back up to last week.  I had a follow up appointment with the G.I. Dr.  It went okay.  I am to stay on the diet I am following already.  We had a discussion about me possibly having a gluten allergy.  I was sent to the lab for some blood work.  I don't  have that particular allergy but my glucose was 161 (it should be around 70-110) and my inflammatory CRP number was 32 (it should be no higher then 8).  I went back in today to get my glucose checked again to see if I am diabetic or pre-diabetic.  If I am either of those I can possibly just control them with diet and excersize.  My diet will change some, but not to much so that part will be easy, the excersizing not so easy.  I should find out about my blood work in the morning.  I don't know if I could get anymore drawn.  I still have a bruise on my arm from last week so I asked if they could take from my left arm today.  The lady stuck me, then had to dig the needle around and still couldn't find the vein.  After a minute or two of pain I told them to take it out and just do my right arm.  To be nice she used a smaller needle.  It hurt like crazy because she stuck right in the middle of the already bruise.  Giving blood doesn't usually bother me but I think this morning might have scarred me for life!

The Lion King March 17th, 2012

Last weekend it finally arrived!  The date for The Lion King.  We bought tickets when it was first put on sale months and months ago.  The day finally came so we dropped off the kids and headed to New Orleans.  When we arrived (two hours early) we went ahead and parked and pulled up restaurants in walking distance.  We picked on and headed off.  I had wanted to look nice so I wore some shoes with wedges on them.  Comfortable but not that practical for walking long distances in N.O.  Luckily the places wasn't too far.  However on the way I was looking at the gps and not where I was walking and tripped on an uneven piece of sidewalk.  Everything went flying.  Luckily nothing was broken, including myself.  I did get a nasty scrap on my knee and my shoes are ruined!  We ended up eating at the closest place we could find so I could check myself better.  Add a scrape and bruise on my palm.  After our very delicious lunch of grilled cheese sandwiches we headed to the theater and got our seats.  We had nice box seats.  The show was amazing.  Thats completely an understatement but there is really no words to describe it.  Definitely recommended.  We are hoping to go to Mary Poppins around Christmas and Wicked next year.  Anyone want to come with us?

Read Across America

Today is Read Across America.  It is also Dr. Seuss's Birthday!  Brooklyn's school is celebrating read across America by all reading D.r Seuss books today.  I looked everywhere for a Seuss shirt but was not successful.  Brooklyn was okay with me making her a dress to match the Cat in the Hat's hat.  I personally think it turned out adorable!  She loves it and asked for another dress in the style.  I personally love to read.  So do the girls.  They love to read so much when the book store in the mall closed, they actually cried, very loudly.  Good thing the store was located in the outside shopping area.    I used to love when Grandma Burke would send us a box of books.  A new adventure and friend on every page.  Some I could read myself, some Jessie would read to me, or momma, or who ever I could convince.  I remember Jessie reading the box cart children books in Leesville and then we would all go outside and play out the stories she would tell us. I hope the girls continue to love reading as much as I do.  All I can do is encourage them and hope it sticks!
